On Tuesday, a new EP of unreleased Prince music titled Deliverance was announced for release this Friday. The title track was also made available on iTunes and Apple Music. However, soon after it was revealed that Prince's estate and Paisley Park had filed a lawsuit against engineer George Ian Boxill for control of the six tracks on the EP. The songs were reportedly recorded and co-written with Boxill in 2006.
Prince's estate told Billboard in a statement that Boxill is in violation of an agreement stating that the tracks were solely the property of Prince. "Instead, Mr. Boxill maintained copies of certain tracks, waited until after Princes tragic death, and is now attempting to release tracks without the authorization of the Estate and in violation of the agreement and applicable law."
However, iHeartRadio has announced that the song "Deliverance" is now streaming on iHeartPrince Radio at the top of the hour every hour. Additionally, the full EP will be via iHeartRadios on demand subscription services.
This Friday, April 21, is the one-year anniversary of the music icon's passing.
