Jeff Kapugi
iHeartMedia has announced that Jeff Kapugi has been named Region Senior Vice President of Programming for Washington, D.C. and Baltimore, MD, effective immediately.

Kapugi will work with radio station personalities and program directors to oversee on-air content, music programming, as well as oversee digital and social media for all radio station brands in the Washington, D.C. Region. He will also serve as the program director for 98.7 WMZQ, Today’s Best Country.

“We are excited to have someone of Jeff’s caliber back at iHeartMedia,” said Michael Preacher, President, iHeartMedia’s Washington, D.C. Region and Government Initiatives. “He is truly one of the most respected programmers in the business and a next level thinker, which makes him the perfect person to spearhead our programming efforts here in the Washington, D.C. Region”

“I could not be more excited to bring Jeff Kapugi to D.C.,” said Meg Stevens, Executive Vice President of Programming for iHeartMedia’s Northeast Division.  “Having worked with him previously, I have firsthand knowledge of his exceptional skills and incredible character. Jeff’s smart, strategic and passionate about the brands and he will be a tremendous asset for our stations.”

Kapugi started his radio career at iHeartMedia in 1989, where he held several positions over the next two decades, including Program Director and Operations Manager for stations in Tampa, FL, St. Louis, MO and Washington, D.C./Baltimore, MD. He later spent two years as the Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer for Tribune Interactive. Most recently, Kapugi served as the Vice President of Programming for CBS Radio in Chicago, IL, where he oversaw eleven Top 30 market Country stations and handled day-to-day duties as Program Director of WUSN-FM in Chicago. He is a graduate of Columbia College Chicago.

“I am very excited to head back to iHeartMedia Washington, D.C.,” said Kapugi. “Their team is one of the most talented in the radio industry and I can’t wait to get to work. While I may be leaving my hometown of Chicago, I feel as if I am coming back home.”
