Ed Sheeran

Ed Sheeran has been named the recipient of the Songwriters Hall of Fame's 2017 Hal David Starlight Award, which will be presented at the Hall's Induction and Awards Dinner on June 15 in New York. The award was created in 2004 to honor young songwriters. In a statement, Songwriters Hall of Fame co-chairs Kenneth Gamble and Leon Huff said, "Ed Sheeran has accomplished so much in pop music that it is hard to believe he is only 26. He is not an overnight sensation, however, having immersed himself in songwriting, recording and performing since his early teens. His natural talent as a singer, songwriter, guitarist and producer has brought him well-deserved success."

Days after Chuck Berry's passing, his final album has been announced. Simply titled Chuck, it will be released June 16 via Dualtone Records. Berry had been reportedly working on a new album, which would be his first since 1979. The 10-song album features eight Berry originals and includes contributions from Gary Clark Jr., Tom Morello, Nathaniel Rateliff, and Chuck's grandson Charles Berry III. Morello and Rateliff both appear on the single "Big Boys," which was released today.

The Decemberists have announced their own festival, called the Travelers' Rest. It will take place in frontman Colin Meloy's hometown of Missoula, MT on August 12 and 13. The band will headline both nights and the lineup includes Belle & Sebastian, The Head and the Heart, Sylvan Esso, Real Estate and many more acts. The Decemberists have a short North American tour set for April as well.
