Quick Hits: Jack White, George Michael, Eddie Vedder, Wale

Jack White
In an extensive new interview with The New Yorker, Jack White says he is currently working on new material. The musician says he is quietly making new music in a small Nashville apartment he rented solely to write in semi-isolation. He said, "I want to write like Michael Jackson would write — instead of writing parts on the instruments or humming melodies, you think of them. To do everything in my head and to do it in silence and use only one room." The New Yorker article also looks at White's many other creative endeavors, most notably Third Man Records and his extensive collection of eclectic items. You can read the full feature here.

George Michael's cause of death has been announced in a statement by Oxfordshire, England’s senior coroner. The Pop star, who passed away on Christmas, died of natural causes due to heart and liver diseases. Police have closed any investigation into Michael's death.

Eddie Vedder has announced a solo tour of Europe in May and June. The Pearl Jam frontman begins with a two-night stand in Amsterdam on May 29 and 30 and runs up to June 26 in Sicily, Italy. The trek includes a pair of European festival dates as well. Glen Hansard will open all dates.

Rapper Wale will hit the road in May on "The Shine Tour." It begins in Atlanta on May 5 and wraps on May 27 in Boston. It is in advance of his upcoming fifth album Shine, expected out later in 2017.
