Thompson Asks For WQAM License Revocation
November 23, 2004

Miami attorney/indecency crusader Jack Thompson is at the heart of the $55,000 Notice of Apparent Liability for Forfeiture for sexually explicit material on the Scott Ferrall Show levied against WQAM-AM/Miami, in more ways than one.  Not only did he file a complaint about the broadcast, but he was the caller that Ferrall threatened and made sexual innuendo about his wife.

"These FCC fines today put Beasley in the position of the potential loss, also, of its multi-million-dollar WQAM-AM license, in light of the fact that this same station was fined for indecent broadcasts by the FCC in 2000," said Thompson. "More fines, because of the [Howard] Stern show, may be on the way."

Thompson has filed complaints with the FCC over WQAM's current morning show, the syndicated Howard Stern Show.

"What should now follow is a criminal prosecution by the Justice Department of all individuals at Beasley responsible for this illegal activity, pursuant to 18 USC 1464, which provides for up to two years’ imprisonment for the airing of indecent material," says Thompson. "Whether more fines are levied or not, Beasley has proven today that it is a recidivist broadcaster of indecency which has arguably forfeited the privilege to own and operate under not only at WQAM-AM license frequency but also at other Beasley Broadcasting licensed frequencies. Stay tuned. Beasley is in deep, deep trouble."
