Dees Says Goodbye
February 10, 2004

"It's an honor and a privilege to host the number one revenue-generating radio show of its kind in America." With that, legendary KIIS/Los Angeles morning host Rick Dees announced that this morning's show would be his last, saying, "It has been decided that I will no longer be doing the daily morning radio show on KIIS-FM." Dees added that he will continue to host the syndicated Rick Dees Weekly Top 40.

In a special announcement that aired at 5:10am PT, Dees thanked his family, his morning show staffers, past and present, and his listeners. Dees paraphrased the Bible, saying, "God put you and me together each morning, and what God has joined together, let no man put asunder. I really do love you, and I pray for you and your family each day before I begin this radio show. God bless you from the heart of this microphone, and thanks."

What followed was a "greatest bits" collection of special moments from the Dees show over the years. While no formal announcement has been made as of yet, look for an announcement soon naming former KYSR p.m. driver (and American Idol host) Ryan Seacrest as Dees' replacement at KIIS.
